Radio Training Course

A beginners guide to Radio Production. brbr The aim of this course is to get some experience of producing content for radio and to get a finished CD demo of your projects. You will also gain an understanding of the jobs available.

Day one looks at the various roles and jobs within the radio industry. This day also sets out the first project and takes a close look at making a commercial, a feature or a phone-in show. We also listen to past students work and finish the class with some practical exercises in Digital editing, using Adobe Audition.brbr Students are given such items to read for homework:br br1. Creating a featurebr 2. Creating a commercial/Station Promobr3. Scriptwriting for Radio and Language used



Your tutors: Tony Wilson has 25 years experience working for BBC Radio 1. brbr Chris Lycett has over 30 years experience working for BBC radio. Chris also worked for 10 years as editor and producer for BBC Radio 1. In 1984 he was responsible for the Radio 1 broadcast of Live Aid in which he received a Sony Gold Award.brbr



Day 2br Discuss projectsbr Interviewing skillsbr How to use the mini-disc recorderbr Microphone techniquesbr Recording levelsbr Choice of locationbr Interview Practical Excersisebr Adobe Multi-track Screenbr Start Projectbrbr Complete your Projectbr Discuss Phone-in showsbrbr Homework: Prepare for the phone-in programme. Write the scripts and try to line up 2 friends to be phoned for your show. Bring all CDs and written scripts you need for your project. brbr brbr Day 3br Record Phone-in showsbr Edit phone-in showbr Prepare show-reelbr Course Discussion and questions.br
